About Series : Ross Series

The Ross Series cards are real photographic prints, produced for Ross by the Rose Stereograph Company, Melbourne.  There is no indication on the cards that they were printed by Rose, but they have the standard dimensions and layout of Rose cards including a typeset caption at the bottom.  The caption is in the standard Rose format of “ROSS SERIES” at the left and the title in the middle.

The series consists of 15 cards.  The Tasmanian Philatelic Bulletin Board compiled a list of the cards, as below:

No. 2 - "Currie Harbour and Lighthouse, King Island"
No. 3 – “Post Office & King Island Hotel. Currie King Island”
No. 4 - "Town Hall Currie King Island"
No. 5 - "Our 'arbour, Currie, King Island”

Number 5 has the same caption as number 6; whether the two views were the same I don’t know.

The cards were used between 1936 and 1951, as shown by postmark dates and the dates in correspondence on the back of the cards.
