Riding to hounds was an activity of the landed gentry, but it must have been an event to dress up in top hat and follow a pack of baying hounds across the paddocks on a frosty winter morning. The Northen Hunt Club still exists today to carry on the tradition.
The history of hunting in Tasmania is well described by David Obendorf in an Article called "Hunting Foxes" in the Tasmanian Times.
