Postcard, Tasmania, “The Post Office, Hobart”

Publisher: J. Walch & Sons, Hobart

Publication Date: 1906.

Photographer: Unknown

Printing: Printed by photolithography by C.G. Roder, Leipzig, Germany

Usage: Correspondence on back, undated. Posted with 1d Mt Wellington stamp, postmark illegible.Addressed to Miss J Hughes, 204 Argyle St, Hobart.

Remarks: The "Hobart Greetings" in glitter on the front would have been added by the sender, or perhaps a retailer in Hobart.  The Post Office eventually banned cards with glitter as the glitter came off and clogged up the postal machinery, and was a nuisance to staff handling the cards.

This card is from a one-off printing, not part of one of Walch's series of cards.  Its history is given in "About This Series".
